The last of a group of criticallyill patients has been evacuated from the rebel-held area near the Syrian capital, Damascus. 29 people in urgent need of medical assistance have now been transferred to the capital in a deal with Syrian government. The Red Cross says it hopes this would be the start of more evacuations.

There have been celebrations in the Liberian capital Monrovia after officials declared George Weah, a former football star, the winner of the presidential election. With almost ballots accounted, Mr. Weah took a 61% share of the vote compared with 38% for his rival, the Vice President Joseph Baokai.

President Trump has told the New York Times, he believes the Special Council investigation into alleged collusion between his campaign and Russian officials makes the United States look bad. Mr. Trump repeatedly insisted that the enquiry had not discovered any collusion.

12 New York residents have been killed in a fire at an apartment building in the Bronx District of the city. The New York Mayor Bill de Blasio said the blaze had now been put out. He said 4 people were critically injured and fire fighters had rescued 12 people. Mr. Blasio called it the worst fire of its kind in the city in 25 years.

Fire has swept through in an office and restaurant complexin the Indian city of Mumbai. The blaze left at least 14 people dead and several others injured.

The Tech giant Apple has apologized to customers after admitting it deliberately slowed down old phone models to prolong their battery life. It’s promising to reduce the price of a replacement battery for certain phones.

And newly released files from Britain’s official achieve show government ministers were cordoned off guard by the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. Records show there was no contingencyplan with the British government to deal with the fallout. Ministers at the time give contradictory advice.
