Apple 近日將中國 iCloud 帳戶轉到中國的資料中心。 不過， 近日 TechCrunch 報導指一些海外使用者（例如美國地區）也收到 Apple 的電郵通知， 其 iCloud 帳戶資料也會被轉移到中國， 造成不少人對私隱的擔憂。 而 Apple 終於回應有關消息， 表示這些非中國地區使用者只是因 Apple 的錯誤而收到電郵， 強調只有中國地區 iCloud 帳戶資料才會改到中國的資料中心。 其他地區的 iCloud 使用者資料不會有影響。
由於 iCloud 是按 Apple ID 地區而設計， 理論上身在中國的使用者只要不是用中國地區的 Apple ID， 其 iCloud 資料也不會儲存在中國的資料中心。 不過， 如果在海外但使用中國地區的 Apple ID， 很有可能也會使用中國地品的資料中心來儲存 iCloud 資料。
