Hefei Builds Comprehensive National Science Center
合肥啟動綜合性國家科學中心建設
Hefei, capital of Anhui province, launched a major project on February 27 to construct a comprehensive national science center by the year of 2020. It will be the second comprehensive national science center in China, following Shanghai's Zhangjiang Comprehensive National Science Center. The science center will focus on research in information technology, energy, health and the environment, and will seek breakthroughs in quantum communications, nuclear fusion, smog prevention, cancer treatment and more.

Beijing-Shanghai Quantum Link Launched

China launched a 2,000-kilometer quantum fiber link connecting Beijing and Shanghai on September 29, allowing unhackable communication between the cities. This is the world's longest and most sophisticated quantum link, and it will serve as the backbone connecting quantum networks in four cities: Beijing, Shanghai, Jinan in Shandong province and Hefei in Anhui province.

JAC, VW Kick off NEV Project

JAC Motors, a state-owned automaker in East China’s Anhui province, kicked off a new energy vehicle (NEV) project in June, in partnership with German car giant Volkswagen(VW). Under their agreement, the new joint venture will open in 2018.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs Holds Event to Present Anhui Province

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs held an event on April 11 to present Anhui province with the theme of "An open China: Splendid Anhui, Welcoming the World". Over 500 people including diplomatic envoys and representatives in China from over 140 countries and international organizations were present at the event.

World's First Shared Bookstore Opens in Anhui
全球首家共用書店在安徽開業
The Sanxiaokou Xinhua Bookstore in Hefei has become the world’s first shared bookstore, in a move meant to encourage more reading among Chinese citizens. Customers are allowed to borrow up to two books valued under 150 yuan per visit after registering with an app and paying the 99 yuan deposit fee.

China's First Smart Hospital Opens in Anhui

Anhui Provincial Intelligent Hospital opened in Hefei on August 20. Jointly launched by Anhui Provincial Hospital and Anhui-based iFLYTEK Co., the new hospital uses state-of-the-art technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) to highly improve work efficiency and make it easier for local residents to get medical services.

10th Expo Central China Opens in Anhui
第十屆中博會安徽開幕
Held by Anhui province between May 17 and May 19, the Expo Central China 2017 attracted 4,278 participants, including more than 800 foreigners. Contracts were signed on 123 FDI programs worth US$14.14 billion during the expo.
5月17日至19日，第十屆中國中部投資貿易博覽會在安徽合肥舉行。本屆大會吸引了中外客商4278人，其中境外來賓超800人。中部六省共簽訂外商直接投資專案123個，投資總額141.4億美元。

4 Cities in Anhui Named Nat'l Civilized Cities
安徽四市當選第五屆全國文明城市
Anhui province outshone all its counterparts in the annual nationwide selection of civilized cities, as Huaibei, Bengbu, Xuancheng and Anqing won the title of “National Civilized City”, and Dangtu, Tianchang and Chaohu were selected as national civilized counties.
淮北、蚌埠、宣城、安慶當選第五屆全國文明城市，當塗、天長、巢湖獲評全國文明縣級城市。安徽省新入選數位居全國第一。

Anhui's No.1 Water Conservancy Project Kicks off
安徽省基礎設施建設“一號工程”全面建設
Construction has started on a project which involves channeling water from the Yangtze River to the Huaihe River. The project is primarily intended for water supply, water transportation and irrigation in Anhui province and neighboring Henan province. It also aims to improve aquatic ecosystems of the Huaihe River and the Chaohu Lake.
引江濟淮工程進入全面建設階段。該工程涉及安徽、河南兩省，旨在滿足城鄉供水、農業灌溉用水需求，發展水運，改善淮河和巢湖的水生態環境。

Anhui Builds Nat'l Atmospheric Monitoring Lab
安徽打造國家級大氣環境監測實驗室
China has started building its first national engineering laboratory for atmospheric environmental monitoring in Hefei, capital of Anhui province. Jointly launched by the Hefei government and Hefei Institute of Physical Science under the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), the lab aims to develop advanced monitoring technology and equipment for the country's environmental monitoring agencies and companies.
12月24日，我國大氣環境監測領域首個國家級工程實驗室在安徽省合肥市啟動建設。該實驗室由合肥市人民政府和中科院合肥物質科學研究院聯合打造，建成後，將開展大氣環境污染監測先進技術與裝備的研發。
