New beginning for Zenit after last year’s disappointing results. Roberto Mancini took charge of the Russian giants and will have an unwanted debut against SKA Khabarovsk, a recently promoted team. On the cards the visitors are huge favourites here to take the three points, but the 6000 km journey from Saint Petersburg might have a negative impact on their players.
The hosts will have their first game ever in the Russian Premier League after defeating Orenburg in last year’s playoff, but Zenit won the last four away matches last season keeping a clean sheet in five or the last seven Premier League matches, and they plan to start with the right foot here. With four big signings for Mancini (all well know players in the Russian league), Zenit should be comfortable in the big pitch of the Lenin Stadium of Khabarovsk, winning by two goals or more, giving the SKA supporters a taste of what should be a long season for them.
