It's easy to find Western food in Beijing.
But i like eating Chinese food here.
Kung Pao chicken is my favorite.
I eat it twice a week.
I often have the dish at a restaurant
with my friends.
They always joke,
"Kung Pao chicken for you, Dale?"
It's a simple(簡單的) dish.
But it has many different flavors.
I love the crunchy(鬆脆的) peanuts.
The spicy peppers are also tasty.
In fact, Kung Pao chicken
is common outside China.
Many foreigers like it.
It was one of the top 10
most popluar Chinese dishes in the world.
In countries like the United States and Britain,
there are man Chinese restaurants.
They all have Kung Pao chicken.
But they are different from
the Kung Pao chicken in China.
In other countries, it is sweeter.
In Britain, some chefs cook it
with tomato sauce(番茄醬).
Others even add honey(蜂蜜) to it.
In the US, some restaurants cook it
with orange and garlic(蒜) sauce.
Western people love eating chicken.
And the sweet and spicy sauce
makes the dish yummy.
Did you know?
Where does the name
"Kung Pao chicken" come from?
Maybe it came from
Ding Baozhen (1820---1886).
He was an offical during the Qing Dynasty.
He did some good things for people.
He liked chicken with
chili(辣椒) and peanuts.
And his title(頭銜) was Gongbao.
So people named the dish Kung Pao chicken.
